Zayed Int'l Foundation for the Environment launches 7th cycle of Zayed Prize
Zayed International Foundation for the Environment announces launch of the 7th cycle of Zayed Prize during the first-ever session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) in Nairobi.
The Zayed International Foundation for the Environment has launched the seventh cycle of its prestigious global environmental award, with US$1 million to be awarded to the winners, during the first-ever session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) in Nairobi.
The announcement was made by the Chairman of the Zayed International Foundation for the Environment, Dr. Mohammed A. Bin Fahad at a press conference held on 26th June, 2014 attended by a host of dignitaries including HSH Prince Albert II Prince of Monaco.
Higher committee members of the Zayed Foundation including Brigadier Ahmad Mohamed Rafie, Deputy Chairman, Hamdan Al Shaer, Dr.Meshgan Al Awar, Secretary General;and Fahad Jasim Al Ghass, Director of Public Relations & Marketing were also in attendance at the event.
Pointing out that “education and science are the largest determining factors to shape a healthy, sustainable and prosperous future”, Dr. Bin Fahad also announced the launch of a new category, in addition to the three major categories of the Zayed Prize.
In line with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Founder and Patron of the Zayed Foundation, and following Dubai Expo 2020’s theme of embracing a culture of sustainability, the new category titled ‘The Young Scientists Award for Environmental Sustainability’, will be awarded for the first time at the 7th cycle of Zayed Prize.
This new category of the Zayed International Prize for the Environment is aimed at recognizing, rewarding and promoting the pioneering contributions of talented young scientists worldwide for research in Environmental Sciences and Green Technology that has contributed significantly to environmental integrity and sustainable development.
